I ♥ Me week #3 answers – What Mummy behaviour ignores you?

Welcome to the I ♥ Me linky blog thing week 3, come on in we ♥ you!

Week 3 question: What Mummy/Parenting behaviour ignores “you”, making you want to laugh, scream or cry?

It can be anything. Something you do, say or think (be kind to yourself) or someone else does, says or thinks (play nicely though)?

Why are we here again? What struck me about all Mummy Bloggers (call us Mummy Bloggers or not) is that somewhere in all blogs is the desire to be oneself, to keep hold of the “me” amongst all the other roles we play. The very reason I started blogging. So this got me thinking. What if we took some time to think, consider and blog about the me? What if we took the “Are we Mummy Bloggers?” debate and changed the language to say “I blog for me, and I am a Mummy too.” So I thought I’d start a weekly blog thing with a McLinky thing called “I ♥ Me”. I ♥ (Moi) Me – get it? Time to blog about you and strengthen that hold on “me” . I hope you like and will play.

How does it work? Fridays I will post a “me” pondering question. Weekends are for pondering. Mondays I will come back with the Linky thing (like this post). Post-tastic! The Linky will stay open all week, until the Friday when we start again. Last relevant post will also be available through the I ♥ Me badge on the right >>. More info is here.

OK, mine is a bit silly. It is about Center Parcs and comes with a heavy caveat that I have nothing against anyone who has been to Center Parcs. Here goes:

I F***ing hate Center Parcs, they make me want to scream. The Center that is “er” and the Parc with it’s c; that they all have to be in forests and that – I am sorry – memories DO NOT START at Centre Parcs. What I really hate, though, is when I hear friends, people, anyone say the words “Yes, we never thought we would go either but the kids just love it.” Before you can wonder where memories really do begin they are spending several grand a year on a week’s holiday in sub-standard accommodation.

I think it is sad. There are other options, so many ways to spend the amount of money they charge on beautiful holidays with lots of things to do. I think it is expensive and marketed hard so parents start to think it is the only option. Holidays should be for all the family. Somewhere Mum, Dad and the children want to be. Chances are if you book a holiday you need a holiday, you should at least be somewhere you really want to be.

Ladies …..
PS. Turns out Linky Tools does not like the heart symbol, it comes up as a ? and I ? Me is not really what we had in mind here. Best to use the word heart in your post title (works fine in the url).
